Let the roof narrow the options
Slope, structural capacity, existing assembly, local requirements, and exposure establish which systems can be considered. Not every material belongs on every building.
Compare the ownership experience
Discuss maintenance, repair access, product availability, and written warranty terms. The least expensive initial estimate may cover a different assembly or set of responsibilities.
See the finish at the house
Review samples beside siding, masonry, and trim in different light. A small screen image cannot reliably show the color, texture, or scale of a full roof.
Ask for a like-for-like scope
When comparing materials, keep removal, decking, flashing, ventilation, permits, and cleanup in view. Understand what changes with each proposed system.
Make it specific to your home.
This is general planning information, not a diagnosis, quotation, insurance determination, or promise of product performance. A property-specific assessment and written scope are the next steps.
